1. Who we are
TradeWise is operated by Realtime Comms Ltd, a company incorporated in England and Wales with company number 15584611. Our registered office is 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom.
Realtime Comms Ltd is the controller of personal data collected directly through the TradeWise website and standalone service. When TradeWise processes Shopify store data to provide the app to a merchant, the merchant may be the controller and we may act as its processor, depending on the processing concerned.
Privacy enquiries and data-rights requests can be sent to support@realtimecomms.co.uk.
2. What this policy covers
This policy applies to the TradeWise website, the TradeWise standalone service and the TradeWise app for Shopify. It explains what personal data we collect, why we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it and the rights available to individuals.
3. Information we collect
Depending on how TradeWise is used, we may collect:
- Account and contact information, such as a name, work email address and authentication details.
- Shopify installation and store information, including the store domain, store name, timezone, approved access scopes, installation status and app session credentials.
- Store information made available through Shopify under the permissions approved by the merchant, including product catalogue information where required to provide store-aware recommendations.
- Information entered into TradeWise, including competitor URLs, brand-kit details, preferences and action-card status.
- Subscription and usage information, such as the selected plan, feature usage and Recreate credit consumption. Payment card details are handled by Shopify or our payment provider and are not stored by TradeWise.
- Technical and security information, including IP address, browser and device information, request logs, session identifiers and diagnostic records.
- Communications sent to us, including support requests and feedback.
TradeWise does not request access to Shopify customer or order data for its current functionality. We do not intentionally collect special-category personal data.
4. Public competitor information
TradeWise collects publicly available commercial information about websites and advertising selected by a merchant. This can include public product names, prices, availability signals, advertising copy, images, campaign dates and source links. This information is used to identify changes and provide competitor intelligence. It is not collected to identify or profile individual consumers.
5. How we use information
We use information to:
- Authenticate users and maintain secure app sessions.
- Provide competitor monitoring, evidence, action cards, briefings and Recreate functionality.
- Tailor recommendations and generated creative concepts to the merchant’s store and brand settings.
- Administer plans, billing, allowances and account status.
- Operate, secure, troubleshoot and improve the TradeWise services.
- Respond to support, legal and data-rights requests.
- Comply with law, enforce our terms and protect TradeWise, merchants and other users from misuse.
6. Lawful bases
Under UK data-protection law, we rely on one or more of the following lawful bases:
- Contract, where processing is necessary to provide TradeWise or take requested steps before providing it.
- Legitimate interests, including operating and securing the service, improving relevant business functionality, supporting users and preventing fraud or misuse, where those interests are not overridden by individual rights.
- Legal obligation, where we must process or retain information to comply with applicable law.
- Consent, where we specifically ask for it. Consent can be withdrawn at any time without affecting processing already carried out.
7. AI-assisted processing
TradeWise uses automated systems and AI models to interpret detected competitor changes, prioritise commercial signals, produce draft recommendations, analyse advertising strategy and generate creative concepts. TradeWise is designed as decision support: merchants decide whether to follow a recommendation or use a generated asset.
TradeWise does not use solely automated processing to make decisions about individuals that produce legal or similarly significant effects. We apply controls intended to prevent unsupported factual claims and retain evidence so merchants can review the basis for an observation.
8. Who we share information with
We disclose information only where needed to operate TradeWise, comply with law or protect legitimate interests. Recipients can include:
- Shopify, for installation, authentication, billing and app operation.
- Hosting, database, security, monitoring and email-delivery providers.
- AI and image-generation providers used to produce analysis, recommendations and Recreate outputs.
- Providers used to retrieve publicly available website and advertising information.
- Professional advisers, regulators, courts, law enforcement or other parties where disclosure is legally required or reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.
- A buyer or successor if our business or relevant assets are reorganised, sold or transferred, subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.
We do not sell personal data.
9. International transfers
Some service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where data-protection law requires safeguards for a transfer, we use an applicable lawful transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy regulation or approved contractual safeguards. Information about the safeguards relevant to a particular transfer is available on request.
10. How long we keep information
We retain account, store and service data while an account or app installation is active and for the period reasonably needed to provide the service. Following uninstall, account closure or a valid deletion request, we delete or anonymise associated data within 30 days unless a longer period is required for legal, accounting, security or dispute-resolution purposes.
Billing and transaction records may be kept for up to seven years where required for tax and accounting obligations. Security logs and backup copies are retained for limited periods according to our operational retention schedules and are then overwritten or deleted. Public competitor evidence that does not contain personal data may be retained to provide historical comparisons.
11. Security
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect information, including encrypted connections, access controls, restricted production access, secure session cookies, credential protection, network controls and monitoring. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
12. Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights to request access to your personal data, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, and to object to processing. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
You have the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests. To exercise this or another data right, email support@realtimecomms.co.uk.
We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. If TradeWise processes the relevant information on behalf of a Shopify merchant, we may direct the request to that merchant or assist it in responding.
13. Complaints
Please contact us first so we can try to resolve a privacy concern. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or by telephone on 0303 123 1113.
14. Children
TradeWise is a business service and is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services, providers or legal obligations change. We will publish the revised version here and update the date above. Where a change materially affects how we use personal data, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
